Concrete Projects | Hardin County Courthouse

Restoration of the interior and exterior features of the Hardin County Court House in Eldora, IA reinforced the structure and improved the sidewalks to meet ADA-compliant standards. Throughout the summer of 2019, King Construction teams removed all existing exterior concrete sidewalks and patio pavers to prepare the surface for fresh concrete and walkways. By reshaping new sidewalks with forms and pouring with a wide groove trowel, we were able to add proper sloping, ensuring that the walkways complied with ADA standards.

To reinforce the building, we used a steel structure with heavy gauge steel frames including 6” steel studs in the interior. Finishing the walls and ceiling, our teams applied spray foam insulation. Additional exterior finishing work included a stone façade with smooth stone on the upper section of the walls.

Installation of a smooth, black blind fastener system on the unique barrel awning roof finished the exterior look while the interior side of the structure got a three-inch oak tongue-and-groove application.
